Backyard Studios is a home based business in midtown Toronto started by Carolyn Laidley Arn, a practicing artist, retired interior designer and commercial real estate professional. Using a beautiful selection of carefully curated fabrics, the masks are made with the most up-to-date materials available and are continually refined based on customer feedback and as CDC guidelines change. Masks are made with high quality quilting cotton or linen feature fabrics, three layers and include a layer of polypropylene. Most have a filter pocket, a back of silky soft Japanese quilting cotton and super soft adjustable ear elastics. Adult masks have a replaceable nose wire for a better fit and to reduce fogging of glasses.

Carolyn sources the materials, curates the fabrics, designs, cuts, sews and packages every mask herself. She continually works to build up the inventory so masks are available right away. Having sewn well over 2000 masks she has become an expert in making the best mask possible.

Carolyn was a member of The Sewing Army and Canada Sews and continues to donate masks to schools, community groups and those in need.
